About Our Destination

Whether you're attending in person or invited to the wedding's live streaming, Salar de Uyuni is an incredible place to learn about.  Located in Bolivia's highest plateau, the salt flats were formed when a massive lake dried up 40,000 years ago.

These flats are both the largest and highest salt flats in the world.  Not only are they equal to the size of Connecticut, but they can also be seen from space.  There are an estimated 10 billion tons of salt that comprise the flats, all of which covers 70% of the world's lithium reserves.

During rainy season (that's right, we're getting married in rainy season), water covers the flats and creates a mirror effect, reflecting the sky above.

And for all you nerds out there - Star Wars: The Last Jedi was filmed here and we do plan to pack our lightsabers.

We chose this location for it's uniqueness, breath-taking backdrop, and because we couldn't agree on anything else.

About Bolivia

With a population of over 11 million people, most of Bolivia was originally part of the Incan empire prior to Spanish colonization.  Spanish is now predominantly spoken, but the country has 36 indigenous languages.

La Paz, it's capital, sits in the Amazon basin at an elevation of 11,975FT and claims the title of the highest capital city in the world.

Bolivia's main economic ventures include agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, and manufacturing goods such as textiles, clothing, metals, and petroleum. Bolivia is also very rich in minerals, including tin, silver, lithium, and copper.  Because of this, Bolivia has the fastest growing economy in South America.
